MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team swept Point University 3-0 Tuesday night to mark the third sweep of the year for the Running Eagles.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 7-15 on the year, while Point fell to 12-8.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Liz Mann led both teams with her 17 kills, as she also had a hitting percentage of .517 throughout the match. She added six digs with a block and two aces.
•
Chelsea Hill totaled 15 kills and had a hitting percentage of .303. She also finished with a team-high four solo blocks with three digs.
•
Gaby Ferran picked up a team-high 17 digs as
Marin Black finished with 14.
Taylor Parrish added 32 assists in the match as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U jumped out to an early 8-1 lead in set one, and eventually led 13-2 after an ace from Black. Trailing 22-11, Point used a 7-0 run to cut the lead to four. Mann recorded the final kill in the first set to give the Running Eagles the 25-20 win in set one.
• Life U controlled set two from the beginning, and again led by double digits early 13-3 after an ace from Mann. Life U finished the second set on a 7-1 run as Parrish recorded the final kill for a 25-9 Life U win in set two.
• Set three saw Point take its first lead of the match 10-7, and eventually led 16-9. Trailing by seven, 18-11, Life U exploded on an 11-0 run to lead 22-18. Ferran recorded the final kill of the match for a 25-20 win in set three for a Running Eagles sweep over the Skyhawks.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Point in kills 42-27. Life U had a season-high hitting percentage of 3.19 as Point finished with a .038.
• Life U committed just 12 errors to the 23 from Point.
• Life U held an 11-4 advantage in blocks and 45-35 margin in digs over Point.
