MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team improved to 5-8 on the year with a 4-1 showing during the Running Eagle Classic that was hosted on campus. The tournament featured teams from around the country, as the team opened up play on Thursday evening.
The Running Eagles earned a 3-1 victory over Keiser in the tournament open. On Friday, Life U defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn 3-1 in the afternoon, and took down Coastal Georgia 3-0 in the nightcap.
Liz Mann tallied 20 kills in the pair of matches as
Taylor Parrish picked up 44 assists.
Marin Black added 27 digs with
Chelsea Hill finishing with 19 kills.
On Saturday, Life U defeated St. Andrews University 3-0 in the afternoon, but fell to Faulkner University 3-1 in the tournament finale. Mann added another 31 kills in the final day of the tournament as Parrish finished with an additional 62 assists. In the St. Andrews match, the Running Eagles finished with a tournament-high .213 hitting percentage with 52 team kills. Black also recorded a season-high 30 digs in the St. Andrews match.
Statistically, Life U finished with above a .130 hitting percentage in all but one match. Other than the Faulkner match, the Running Eagles only lost two sets in the remaining four matches.
Mann was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. The full listing can be found below:

The women's volleyball team will return to action Friday, September 7 when they begin play in the University of Mobile Invitational. The team will start play at 11 AM against the University of St. Thomas followed by a match at 3 PM against William Carey University.Â
