PIKEVILLE, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell to the University of Pikeville 84-68 on the road Thursday night in the Mid-South Conference Matchup.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 11-3 (1-1) on the year, while Pikeville improved to 12-6 (1-1).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Tierra Lindsey picked up a team-high 14 points and added eight boards with two steals.
•
Kiana Glenn was the only other Running Eagle to finish in double figures with 12 points. She added a steal and was 5-for-9 from the floor.
• Tshlene Bently picked up a team-high 11 boards with two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Pikeville jumped out to an early 7-2 lead after the first three minutes of play, however Life U responded with a short 4-0 run that was finished with a three from House at the halfway mark.
• Pikeville went on a 7-0 run to lead 14-6 with just under four minutes in the quarter. The Bears led the Running Eagles 19-10 at the end of the first ten minutes.
• Pikeville led by double digits the full ten minutes of the second quarter to go into the half up 39-27.
• Pikeville led 43-31 two minutes into the quarter, however an 11-0 run from Life U brought the game to within two, 43-41, after a jumper by Garnigan. Pikeville finished the third quarter ahead by five, 52-47, heading into the final quarter.
• A deep three from Glenn at the halfway point in the fourth quarter cut the lead to one, 57-56. A jumper from Glenn shortly after kept the deficit at one, 59-58, with 4:46 on the clock.
• A 9-0 Pikeville run extended the lead to 12, 72-60, with 2:24 remaining in the game. The Bears held on to outscore the Running Eagles 12-8 in the final minutes to earn the 84-68 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 30-for-87 from the field, 34.5%, while Pikeville shot 26-for-67, 38.8%.
• Life U shot 4-for-7, 57.1%, from the free-throw line as Pikeville finished 28-for-32, 87.5%.
• Life U forced Pikeville to commit 26 turnovers and scored 24 points off of the miscues.
