FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team came from behind to defeat Emmanuel College in five sets Wednesday night on the road.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 3-1, while Emmanuel fell to 3-5.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Livan Moreno recorded another double-double with a team-high 20 kills and 19 digs. He added a block assist with a service ace and a .351 hitting percentage.
•
Allain Larroche also tallied a double-double with 59 assists and 10 digs. He also finished with three kills and three block assists.
•
Alejandro Gonzalez (17) and
Luke Allmond (16) also finished in double figures with kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U led 7-3 early in set one, however Emmanuel responded with a 5-0 burst to lead 8-7. The Running Eagles responded immediately with a 6-1 run to lead 13-9 after a service ace from Allmond.
• Life U led 22-17 in the first set, but Emmanuel would finish the set on an 8-0 run to take the set 25-22.
• In set two, Life U again led early 9-3 after a service aces from Cornier. Life U maintained a consistent lead throughout the set to tie the match at one with the 25-21 set two win.
• Both teams traded the lead in set three, as Emmanuel held a slight 12-10 advantage halfway through the set. Life U responded with a 6-1 run that was finished by a pair of kills from Gonzalez to lead 16-13.
• The Running Eagles traded points with the Lions and eventually won set three 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
• Emmanuel jumped out to an 8-2 lead in set four. Trailing 20-13 late in the set, the Running Eagles responded with a 7-1 run that was finished with a kill from Serrano to bring the set to within one, 21-20.
• Gonzalez and Allmond picked up the double block to tie the fourth set at 23, however Emmanuel finished the set on a 2-0 run to tie the match 2-2 and force a fifth set.
• In the fifth set, Emmanuel held an early 4-2 lead, however Life U picked up a quick 6-1 burst to lead 8-5. The Lions tied the set at 11 with a 4-1 run, however the Running Eagles ended the match strong with a 4-1 run that was finished with a kill from Gonzalez to take the set 15-12, and the match 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Emmanuel in kills 70-44. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .245 as Emmanuel finished with a .159.
• Life U led Emmanuel in digs, 60-45.
• Life U led Emmanuel in aces 6-5 as both teams tallied nine blocks.
• Life U finshed with a 60-45 advantage in assists over Emmanuel.
