MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team started its inaugural season with a 3-0 sweep over NCAA Division II Erskine College at home Tuesday.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 1-0, while Erskine fell to 0-1.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Luke Allmond led the way offensively for the Running Eagles with 10 kills with a hitting percentage of 76.9%. He added six total blocks with two digs and an ace.
•
Allain Larroche totaled 31 assists with three service aces.
•
Livan Moreno picked up team-high eight digs with nine kills and two service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U jumped out to an early 4-2 lead in set one after a kill from Cornier.
• Both teams traded points back and forth with short runs, however a late 3-0 run from Life U gave the Running Eagles a 23-18 lead after a block from Gonzalez and Allmond.
• Life U took the first set with the final kill from Moreno that was assisted by Larroche 25-21.
• Life U again led early in set two, 5-1, after an ace from Moreno. A quick 4-0 run from the Running Eagles gave them a 13-6 lead after an ace from Allmond.
• Life U led 22-13 late in set two after a block from Larroche and Allmond. However, Erskine went on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to four, 24-20. A service error from Erskine ended the set as the Running Eagles went up two sets to none.
• Erskine held its first lead of the match in set three up 4-2, before Life U went on a 9-0 run that was finished on a kill from Cornier to put the Running Eagles ahead 11-4.
• Erskine cut the lead to three, 16-13, however another 5-1 run from Life U was finished on a kill from Larroche to increase the lead to seven, 21-14. Erskine ended the match on an attack error as the Running Eagles won set three 25-18 to seal the match in 3-0 fashion.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Erskine in kills 37-31. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .289 as Erskine finished with a .165.
• Both teams tallied 27 digs.
• Life U led Erskine in aces 8-2 and blocks 7-4.

• The men's volleyball team will return to action Tuesday, January 15 as they travel to Due West, S.C. to face Erskine College on the road at 7 PM.
