PORTSMOUTH, Ohio ---- The (RV) Life University men's soccer team defeated Shawnee State 3-1 on Wednesday night in Mid-South Conference play to claim at least a share of the 2019 regular season title.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 10-3 (7-0) on the year as Shawnee fell to 9-7-1 (2-4-1).
• The Running Eagles claimed at least a share of the title and will be the No. 1 seed heading into the MSC Tournament next week.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Wessley Soronellas scored a pair of goals in the match to lead the Running Eagles.
•
Martin Cortes converted on a penalty for the third goal of the match.
•
Fabian Pekruhl totaled five saves in goal as
Luciano Diaz earned the lone assist for Life U.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• As the weather intensified, both teams had early chances at goal, however 30 minutes into the first half neither team had broken the score line.
• Shawnee State struck first in the 39
th minute as a cross to the middle was finished into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead to the home team.
• Two minutes before the half, a foul in the box resulted in Cortes tying the match at 1-1 from the spot. The match went into the half tied 1-1.
• Five minutes into the second half, Soronellas put the Running Eagles ahead 2-1 with the assist from Diaz.
• Five minutes later Soronellas scored his second of the match to put Life U ahead 3-1. The Running Eagles defensive efforts allowed just two shots on frame in the final thirty minutes of the match to give Life U the 3-1 road MSC victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Shawnee 21-15 during the match and held an 11-6 advantage in shots on frame.
• Shawnee held a 3-0 lead in corner kicks throughout the match.
• Life U totaled five saves in goal as Shawnee finished with eight.

• The men's soccer team will conclude the 2019 regular season on Friday, November 1, as they travel to Pikeville, Kentucky to face the University of Pikeville at 3 PM. The Running Eagles will win the regular season title for the first time in program history with a victory over the Bears.
