NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---- The Life University women's basketball team held on to win a 66-62 road victory over Fisk University Tuesday night as
Tierra Tullis tallied her first career double-double.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 7-5 on the year.
• Tullis finished with a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds. She added four steals with two assists as well.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Tianna Tullis also finished in double figures with 12 points.
•
Tierra Lindsey added 10 points with three rebounds.
•
Cheyenne Daphney totaled three blocks and seven rebounds with six points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Five minutes into the first quarter, Fisk held a 10-7 lead over Life U.
• Brown cut the lead to one, 12-11, minutes later, however Fisk answered back with a three of its own to lead 15-12 after the first ten minutes.
• Fisk jumped out to a nine-point lead, 25-16, four minutes into the second quarter, however Life U responded with an 18-0 run to take a commanding 34-25 lead after the layup from Tullis in the paint. Fisk hit a three just before the halftime buzzer as Life U went into the break ahead 34-28.
• Life U used a 6-2 run halfway through the third to extend the lead to ten, 43-33, after a three from Tullis.
• Fisk responded with a 9-1 run to cut the lead to two, however Brown hit a layup just before the buzzer to give the Running Eagles a 46-42 advantage heading into the final quarter.
• Life U held the lead in the final quarter, and lead by as many as 18, 67-49, after a layup from Glenn with 2:35 left in the game. A 13-0 run from Fisk cut the lead to five with 23 seconds remaining in the game. Tullis and Teasley sealed the game at the line with a free-throw each to give Life U the 66-62 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 27-for-70 from the field, 38.6%, while Fisk shot 24-for-79, 30.4%. The Running Eagles shot 4-for-15, 26.7%, from beyond the arc as Fisk finished 7-for-25, 28%.
• Life U shot 8-for-18, 44.4%, from the free-throw line as Fisk finished 7-for-16, 43.8%.
• Life U scored 30 points in the paint and 19 points from the bench. Fisk totaled 17 bench points and 20 points in the paint.
