MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell at home to start off 2020 86-71 to No. 14 Lindsey Wilson Saturday afternoon in Mid-South Conference action.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 7-6 (0-3) on the year as Lindsey Wilson improved to 12-3 (1-1).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Sydni Tears led the Running Eagles offensively with 23 points and six rebounds.
•
Tierra Tullis added 14 with four steals and four assists.
•
Shikiya Brown (13) and
Tierra Lindsey (10) also finished in double figures for the Running Eagles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Lindsey Wilson jumped out to an early 10-0 lead five minutes into the first quarter.
• Brown and Daphney picked up the first two baskets for Life U, however Lindsey Wilson extended the lead back to 10, 14-4, with 2:03 on the clock.
• A 7-0 Life U run was finished with a layup from Tears to cut the lead to three, 14-11, with under a minute on the clock. Life U trailed 16-11 after the first quarter.
• Life U jumped out to a 19-16 lead three minutes into the second quarter after a jumper from Glenn in the paint.
• Both teams battled for the lead as Lindsey Wilson finished the quarter on a 5-1 run to lead 38-33 at the half.
• Lindsey Wilson led by as many as 16, 60-44, as the Blue Raiders took a 61-47 lead into the fourth quarter. The Blue Raiders kept up the offensive pressure extending their lead to a game-high 23, 86-63 with 1:28 on the clock. Life U finished the game on an 8-0 run as Lindsey Wilson earned the 86-71 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished 26-for-60 from the field, 42.6%, while Lindsey Wilson shot 30-for-62, 48.4%. The Running Eagles shot 3-for-10, 30%, from beyond the arc as the Blue Raiders finished 6-for-19, 31.6%.
• Life U shot 16-for-19, 84.2%, from the free-throw line as Lindsey Wilson finished 20-for-24, 83.3%.
• Life U scored 38 points in the paint and forced 21 turnovers. Lindsey Wilson also finished with 38 points in the paint and scored 26 bench points.
