MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's lacrosse team defeated Missouri Valley 20-3 in the home opener for the team.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 3-1, as Missouri Valley fell to 1-3.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Lauren Rielly tallied a program-high 10 goals with three assists and two ground balls.
•
Darion Eagen added a pair of goals with two assists as eight other Running Eagles scored in the match.
•
Jewelya Nelson added three assists as
Kayla Hamlett gave up just one goal and tallied four saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Rielly scored her first goal just 20 seconds in the game, as Missouri Valley responded in the fifth minute with a goal to the game the game at 1.
• The Life U offensive attack proved to be too much for the Vikings as the Running Eagles finished the half on an 11-0 scoring run. Rielly added four additional goals in the remaining 20 minutes to put Life U ahead 12-1 at the break.
• Life U continued the offensive pressure with four goals in the first 10 minutes as Rielly added three more to her total. Missouri Valley scored its second goal of the game 16 minutes into the half to make the score 16-2.
• Life U finished the game on a 4-1 scoring run as Rielly tallied her tenth and Eagen scored the final goal with just over three minutes remaining in the game. The Running Eagles earned the 20-3 victory over the Vikings at home.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished with 38 total shots as 28 were on frame. Missouri Valley tallied 12 shots with 10 on frame.
• Missouri Valley led Life U in saves 8-7, however Life U held the advantage in turnover margin over Missouri Valley 27-17.
• Life U was 4-of-4 on clears during the game as Missouri Valley finished 0-of-3.
• Life U picked up 31 ground balls compared to the 15 from Missouri Valley. Life U also led in draw controls 13-11 over Missouri Valley.
