MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's lacrosse team earned its second convincing victory of the week with a 20-3 decision at home over Brenau University.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 4-1, as Brenau fell to 0-6.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Brianna Freeman tallied seven goals to lead the way for the Running Eagles offensively.
•
Bridgett Simmer and
Lauren Rielly each picked up a hat trick with two assists. Rielly caused three turnovers and picked up six ground balls.
•
Kelly Beshaw and
Meghan Smith each scored a pair of goals as Beshaw and
Mallory Bush added two assists.
•
Julia Thompson played all 60 minutes in goal and tallied three saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 1:50 into the game, Nelson scored the first goal for Life U with the assist from Rielly. Life U led 6-0 after the first 10 minutes of play.
• Freeman totaled five goals in the first half as the Running Eagles led 13-0 at the break.
• Freeman added her sixth five minutes into the second half, however Brenau scored two consecutive goals. With 15 minutes remaining in the game, Life U led 14-2.
• Life U finished the game on a 6-1 scoring run as each goal was scored by a different Running Eagle. Life U earned the 20-3 home victory over Brenau.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished with 44 total shots as 35 were on frame. Brenau tallied 9 shots with 6 on frame.
• Brenau led Life U in saves 15-3, however Life U held the advantage in turnover margin over Brenau 34-18.
• Life U was 9-of-11 on clears during the game as Brenau finished 6-of-15.
• Life U picked up 36 ground balls compared to the 12 from Brenau. Life U also led in draw controls 15-8 over Valley.
