BLUEFIELD, Va. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team swept its tenth match of the season on the road Friday night in Mid-South Conference action over Bluefield College.
 
NOTES
• Life U improved to 11-2 (7-1), while Bluefield fell to 11-11 (5-4).
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Alejandro Gonzalez led the way for the Running Eagles offensively with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .286. He added two service aces, a block and eight digs.
• Livan Moreno finished in double digits as well with 13 kills and nine digs. He added three blocks and a service ace.
• Allain Larroche tallied 40 assists with a pair of service aces and seven digs. Luiz De Mello led the way for the Running Eagles with 10 digs. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Life U led 6-3 early in set one after a service ace from Cornier. The Running Eagles used a 4-0 run to lead 11-5 as Perez and Moreno picked up back-to-back blocks.
• A kill from Perez late in the set but Life U ahead 19-12 before a 5-1 run from Bluefield cut the lead to three, 20-17. A service error ended the set as Life U won 25-20.
• Bluefield led 4-3 early in set two as both teams traded the lead. A kill from Gonzalez tied the set at 10, before a short 3-1 run from Bluefield gave the Rams a 13-11 lead.
• Life U responded with a 7-2 run that was finished with a kill from Moreno to lead 18-15 late in set two. Bluefield cut the lead to two, 22-20, before Life U finished the set on a 3-0 run on a service error and a pair of attack errors to take set two 25-20.
• Bluefield held an early lead throughout the beginning of set three, and led by as many as four, 17-13. Life U took its first lead of the set, 19-18, on a 6-1 run that was finished on a solo block from Larroche
• Bluefield tied the match at 19 before a 6-1 run finished the set and match with Moreno recording the final kill. The Running Eagles took the final set also by a score of 25-20.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Bluefield in kills 43-25. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .212 as Bluefield finished with a .160.
• Life U led Bluefield in digs 41-32.
• Bluefield held a 6-5 advantage in blocks over Life U.
• Life U finished with a 41-22 advantage in assists over Bluefield as well with the Running Eagles recording all six aces of the match.

• The men's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, March 9 as they continue MSC action and face Cincinnati Christian University at Bluefield College at 7 PM.
