WALESKA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's soccer team defeated No. 24 nationally ranked Reinhardt 2-1 Saturday night as
Thierry Jules scored the game-winner with a minute remaining in the match.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 2-1 on the year as Reinhardt fell to 1-3.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Jules provided the game-winner and finished with a team-high eight shots with six on frame.
•
Martin Cortes added a goal and provided the assist to Jules.
•
Mattheus Brandao finished with five total shots and two on frame as
Fabian Pekruhl totaled seven saves in goal for the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Reinhardt took an early 1-0 lead in the 13
th minute of the match. Despite three shots on frame, Life U trailed 1-0 at the break.
• Cortes broke through in the 70
th minute to knot the score at one as Life U started rolling with the momentum.
• The Running Eagles put three shots on frame over the next eight minutes, but the score remained tied at one.
• With 1:04 on the clock, a throw-in to Cortes was booted down the field to find Jules on a run. A touch with the head and the half-volley slotted past the keeper gave the Running Eagles the 2-1 road victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U outshot Reinhardt 23-18 during the match. The Running Eagles also held the advantage in shots on frame over the Eagles 13-8.
• Life U led Reinhardt 7-4 in corner kicks throughout the match.
• Tennessee Wesleyan led Life U 11-7 in saves.
