MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of home games to Mid-South Conference foe Cumberland University and (RV) Reinhardt University Saturday afternoon. 
 
NOTES
• Life U fell to 7-4 (0-1) on the year, while Cumberland improved to 5-2 (1-0) and Reinhardt moved to 7-2.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Zykeria Allen led the Running Eagles offensively with 18 kills on the day. .
• Lena Pucnik finished the day with 15 as Fayola Louis added 14.
• Defensively, Marin Black totaled 28 digs as Alia Dorland finished with 22 and Michele O'Haver tallied 24. 
• Taylor Parrish totaled 63 assists in both matches. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
• Both teams went back and forth in the early moments of set one tied at four, however Cumberland went on an 8-0 run to lead 12-4. Life U would not recover from the early run as Cumberland finished the set on a 5-0 run for a 25-16 victory.
• Life U held an early 10-7 lead in set two after kills from Zimmerman and Louis. The set went back and forth until a late 6-1 run put the Phoenix ahead 21-17. Cumberland took the second set 25-20.
• Set number three also began with the teams trading points as a block from Benton and Zimmerman tied the set at three. Cumberland responded with a 5-1 run to lead 12-8. Back-to-back kills from Allen and Black late in the set cut the Phoenix lead to three, 22-19, however Cumberland ended the match on a 3-0 run to win 25-19.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE GAME 1
• Cumberland led Life U in kills 50-35. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .138 as Cumberland finished with a .317.
• Cumberland led Life U in digs 64-52.
• Life U led Cumberland in aces 3-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
• Life U jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in set one after a kill and block from Zimmerman. Reinhardt chipped away at the lead, and went on a 7-1 run to lead 19-16. Trailing 24-21, the Running Eagles responded with a 3-0 run to tie the set. Reinhardt won the set 26-24.
• Reinhardt held an early 9-7 lead in set two and added a 5-0 run to lead 14-7. Life U trailed by as many as 10 before a 5-0 run cut the lead in half. Reinhardt held on to win the set 25-18.
• Reinhardt started the third set ahead 11-2. Life U was unable to overcome the early defecit as the Eagles took the match 25-16.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE GAME 2
• Reinhardt led Life U in kills 45-36. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .128 as Reinhardt finished with a .200.
• Reinhardt led Life U in digs 76-65.
• Reinhardt also led Life U in aces 6-1 and blocks 7-3.
 
UP NEXT
• The women's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, September 10, as they host Faulkner University at 7 PM in the Upper Gym.
