Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Coy Gill

Women's Soccer Races Past Faulkner on Rainy Night, 3-1

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- Three players found the back of the net as the Life women's soccer team pulled away from Faulkner, 3-1, for the victory tonight in Lupo Family Field, advancing the Running Eagles program best start to 4-0.

NOTES
• As the wins continue to come in, the program best start will continue to extend, moving to four wins to start the season after tonight.
Emily Hounsell collected her fourth win of the season, the freshman earning a career-high three saves on the night.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Daniela Cianchini put together an incredibly strong performance in the game, scoring the first goal of the game and adding an assist on the game's final score.
Alexandra Collighan scored her goal on a rocket of a kick from distance.
Hollie Johnston was the last Life U player to find herself with a goal against the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Faulkner found themselves putting a score on the board first. In the game's 17th minute, the Eagle's Ainsley Lockwood got the ball past Hounsell on a well placed pass from Angelica Justice.
• It did not take long for the Running Eagles to respond to their early 1-0 deficit, Cianchini scoring just two minutes later.
• In the final five minutes of the first half, Collighan added what would turn out to be the winning goal off an assist from Niamh Halloren, pushing the lead to 2-0.
• Johnston put the icing on the cake in the first three minutes of the second half off a ball from Cianchini.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Despite Life U pulling away to win the game with breathing room, there was a high degree of parity in shots. The Running Eagles led with 17 (six on goal) compared to 15 (three on goal) for Faulkner.
• Both team's keepers did good jobs in collecting saves, the Eagle's keeper grabbing six and Hounsell garnering three.
• Life U found itself at a disadvantage when it came to fouls, leading 7-4, but two Faulkner players were charged yellow cards.

UP NEXT
• Life U plays its final competition of the Fall Thursday, October 29 at 6 PM on the road at Middle Georgia State.
