Men's Basketball Dominates Southeastern Baptist, 92-63

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's basketball team started the season perfectly, dominating Southeastern Baptist 92-63 Saturday afternoon in the Blackstock Insurance Agency Classic.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Lorenzo Ferrell played strong on both sides of the court on his way to recording a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The junior also chipped in two blocks and assists.
• Two other Life U players, Isaiah Hart and Daylon Tanksley, broke into double-digit scoring with 12 each. Hart stuffed the stat sheet besides his scoring with six boards, three assists, and four steals. Tanksley was very disruptive to Charger players on the defensive side, blocking four shots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both team struggled with sloppy play over the first ten minutes of basketball, Southeastern Baptist possessing its largest--and last-- lead of the game 15-12 after a made three-pointer with 11:44 in the half.
• From that point, Life U took over the game. The Chargers only scored 14 more points over the final minutes of the half while the Running Eagles more than doubled that output up with 31 points, going to the locker room with a 43-29 lead.
• Life U kicked the second half off with an 8-0 run, capped by a James Moore bucket in the paint that was assisted by Jordan Hernandez.
• A Zach Stewart steal with 10:50 remaining turned into a quick fastbreak score for Yesid Mosquera-Perea as the lead extended to 26 at 65-39.
• As time came to a close, Life U pushed the lead to the largest of the game (30 points) at 90-60 when Chaundre Bratcher hit a two in the paint with 38 seconds left to play.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Running Eagles enjoyed a sizable advantage in shooting percentage in the game, shooting 32-for-70 (45.7%) from the field as opposed to Southeastern Baptist's 20-for-61 (32.8%). The Charger's were relatively successful from range, recording seven made shots on their 20 tries (35%), while Life U only went 5-for-24 (20.8%).
• The team's turned the ball over a similar amount at 24 for the Chargers and 19 for Life U, but the Running Eagles were much better at turning those turnovers into points (25-8).
• Life U played strong in the paint, outperforming the Chargers 44-24.
