Men's Basketball Stays Undefeated in 78-76 OT Thriller over Bryan College

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's basketball team pulled through in the clutch, winning 78-76 in an overtime thriller against Bryan College today in the Eagle's Nest.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Lorenzo Ferrell seemed to be able to score at will for the Running Eagles, posting a game high 29 points. The junior was hitting at a high clip from outside the arc, nailing five of his 10 attempts.
James Moore also broke past 20 points scored, contributing 22 to the winning effort. Moore also proved to be a menace for Bryan College shooters both inside and outside the paint with five blocks to his name.
Jordan Hernandez broke out with 17 points and a team-high eight boards, including grabbing an offensive board that he quickly put back up and in for the go-ahead points, 77-76, with 10 seconds left in OT.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The game played out as a back-and-forth affair over the first 10 minutes of competition. A Hernandez bucket in the paint with 8:38 left in the first half put control of the game in Life U's hands, taking a 20-18 that the team held until three seconds remained in regulation.
• The lead pushed to as many as nine for the Running Eagles after Ferrell splashed in a shot from deep at 32-23 before going into the break up 37-30.
• Coming out of the halftime break, Life U saw its lead continue to swell, taking the biggest lead of the game, 53-37 when Hernandez dished out an assist to Kevin Wirth from deep.
• Bryan's push to get back into the game in the final three minutes of play, cutting the lead to two with 17 seconds left in play. Hernandez went 4-for-4 and Ferrell went 1-for-2 from the charity stripe once the Lions started intentionally fouling to push the lead back to five with 10 seconds left, but a three and a last seconds turnover turned into a basket saw the game tied 71-71 as time came to a close.
• With five minutes on the clock for overtime, Bryan possessed a three point lead after the first 2:26 of the extra period. Hernandez's offensive rebound and put back grabbed the team a lead with 10 seconds remaining.
• Moore blocked a potential go-ahead three with three seconds on the clock which was followed by a Ferrell steal. The Bryan player took the foul to send Ferrell to the line for two. Ferrell made the first but missed the second, giving the Lions a chance. A Bryan turnover on the following inbounds following a timeout saw the game come to a close.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Despite the win, Life U possessed a worse shooting percentage, hitting on 40.5% (30-for-74) as opposed to Bryan's 48.2% (27-for-56). The main decider of the game came via Life U getting off nearly 20 more shots due to the team's aggressiveness. Both team's were efficient from deep, the Running Eagles going 8-for-19, while the Lions were a little better off at 11-for-22.
• Bryan turned the ball over a little more than the Life U, 23 to 18, respectively. The main difference came on points off turnovers, Life U enjoying a 28-18 advantage there.
• Life U played strong down low, collecting 41 rebounds to Bryan's 33.
