MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team started the season 1-0 with a 91-60 home opening victory over Carver College Saturday afternoon.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Maeisha Teasley led the way for the Running Eagles on a double-double with 29 points and 10 steals. She finished 14-of-15 from the field.
•
Sydni Tears also finished with 29 points during the game. She added nine assists, eight rebounds, four steals and a block.
•
Amara Edeh was the final Running Eagle to finish in double-digits with 16 points. She added nine rebounds with a pair of steals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U dominated early in the first quarter jumping out to a 10-0 lead in the first four minutes. The Running Eagles finished scoring with 10 seconds on the clock as Evans sank a three to lead 24-9 after the first.
• Life U led by as many as 25 in the second quarter as a fast break from Tears off the increased the lead to 44-19 with 1:53 left in the first half. Carver finished the first half on an 11-5 run as Life U led 49-30 at the break.
• Carver responded in the third quarter as they outscored Life U 18-15 to cut the lead to 16, 64-48.
• Life U pulled back ahead in the final quarter outscoring Carver 27-12 to earn the 91-60 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Running Eagles dominated offensively as they finished 42-for-76 (55.3%) from the field as opposed to Carver's 20-for-60 (33.3%). The Cougars were slightly more successful from range, recording six made shots on their 24 tries (25%), while the Running Eagles finished 4-for-17 (23.5%).
• Life U forced 36 turnovers in the game and scored 37 points off the turnovers with a program-high 26 steals.
• Life U outscored Carver 70-26 in the paint.
