MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team continued its winning ways with a 72-68 neutral site victory over Florida Memorial Friday night.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Maeisha Teasley led the way for the Running Eagles with 24 points, six steals and four rebounds.
•
Sydni Tears added 21 points with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.
•
Cheyenne Daphney totaled a team-high 12 rebounds with nine points and three blocks.
Amara Edeh added nine poards with five blocks, four assists and three steals on six points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Both teams would struggle to maintain possession in the game, however Life U battled to earn a 17-14 lead after the first quarter.
• A pair of baskets from Tears and Daphney in the second put Life U ahead by seven, 21-14, 40 seconds into the second quarter. Florida Memorial kept knocking on the door, but a pair of late free-throws from Edeh gave the Running Eagles a 36-30 lead at the half.
• Life U led by as many as 12, 50-38, five minutes into the third quarter as Tears connected from deep and the assist went to Teasley. Florida Memorial cut the deficit in half as Life U held a 56-50 lead heading to the fourth.
• Two minutes into the final quarter, a three from Florida Memorial gave the Lions their first lead, 59-58. Five minutes in, Flroida memorial continued to maintain its lead with a short jumper to lead 66-63. A three from Teasley at the three minute mark tied the game and thirty seconds later she picked up the steal and break-away layup to give Life U the lead 68-66. The defense held up in the final minutes as Life U earned the 72-68 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Running Eagles led offensively as they finished 30-for-75 (40%) from the field as Florida Memorial went 26-for-82 (31.7%). The Lions were slightly successful from range, recording six made shots on their 22 tries (27.3%), while the Running Eagles finished 4-for-14 (28.6%).
• Life U forced 41 turnovers in the game and scored 36 points off the turnovers. Life U narrowly won the turnover battle 40-41.
• Life U outscored Florida Memorial 50-36 in the paint.

• The women's basketball team returns to play this Friday, November 13, as they travel to Talladega College for a pair of games. They will face Rust College on Friday at 6:30 PM and the hosting Tornadoes on Saturday at 5 PM.
