Women's Soccer Opens 2020 with Dominant Win

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team started the 2020 season with a dominant 4-0 victory on the road at Toccoa Falls College Tuesday evening.

The Running Eagles controlled the pace of the match from the first whistle as they tallied 22 shots during the contest while not surrendering a single shot from the opponent.

Sarah Slingluff scored the first goal for the women in the 16th minute with the assist from Niamh Halloren. Two minutes later Daniela Cianchini found the back of the net with the assist from Zoe Hagan.

The women took the 2-0 lead into the half dominating possession. 14 minutes into the second half Allyse Roberts added to the Running Eagles totals as Slingluff picked up the assist. Halloren added the final goal in the 66th minute to end the scoring and hand the Running Eagles a 4-0 season-opening win.

"The ability to play this game was a reward for the 11 months of uncertainty toward the season and 5 weeks of preparation," head coach Sam Clark stated. "We knew Toccoa Falls would be a tough team to break down but the ladies stayed persistent and executed the game plan in its fullest. It was great to be able to rotate so many players into the lineup without the level dropping. We are thrilled for every chance to train and compete this season and you could really feel the enthusiasm of the team on the field."

The women's soccer team will return to action on Friday, October 9, as they host Carolina University on Lupo Family Field at 7 PM in the home opener for the athletic department.
