WALESKA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team picked up a cruicial 3-0 Mid-South Conference sweep over Reinhardt on the road Tuesday night.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 3-4 (1-1) on the year as Reinhardt fell to 2-8 (0-3).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Derek Negron led the way offensively for the Running Eagles with 10 kills, four digs, an assist, a service ace and a block assist.
•
Allain Larroche totaled 28 assists during the match with seven digs and a kill.
•
Felipe Gonzalez finished with three kills and a team-high three service aces with five digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Reinhardt led 12-10 early in set one, however Life U kept things close and used a 4-1 run that featured a pair of kills from Perez to take an 18-15 lead. Reinhardt responded with a 5-1 run to lead 21-20, but Life U took a 23-21 lead off three consecutive Reinhardt errors. The Eagles tied the set at 23, but a service error and attack error gave Life U the first set 25-23.
• Reinhardt again led early in set two 11-10, but Life U bounced back with a 3-1 run to lead 13-12. The Eagles regained the lead with a 5-0 run to lead 17-13. The Running Eagles answered with a 5-0 run of their own as Negron picked up a pair of kills and an ace from Gonzalez put Life U ahead 18-17. Life U led 24-21 ready to finish the set, but a pair of Eagle points brought the set to within one. Negron closed the door with the final kills as Life U earned the 25-23 set two victory.
• Life U connected offensively and jumped out to an early 7-2 lead. A 5-0 run was finished on a kill from Negron to put the Running Eagles ahead by double digits, 17-7. Reinhardt was unable to overcome the early deficit as Life U earned the sweep with Gonzalez recording the final kill to win 25-14.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Reinhardt in kills 36-25. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .219 as Reinhardt finished with a .049.
• Life U led Reinhardt in aces 6-2, but the Eagles held a 7-3 advantage in blocks over the Running Eagles.
• Reinhardt committed 21 attacking errors as Life U finished with 15.
