Life U Men Drop Matchup Against No. 13 University of the Cumberlands

MARIETTA, GA. — The Men returned home Thursday night to take on the No. 13 University of the Cumberlands Patriots.

The last meeting between the Running Eagles and the Patriots resulted in a 43-82 loss in Williamsburg. Returning back to the Eagles' Nest, we see a different level of competition on display from Life.

Guard, Mike White would open up the first minutes of the game with a three-pointer, giving the Running Eagles an early edge. The Men would follow up with a 7-0 run in the first two minutes of the game. The Patriots would rally back, with efforts from Tevin Olison; Olison would give them their first lead of the night with a three at the 16-minute mark.

The Patriots would lead by as much as 10 in the first, however the Running Eagles would rotate the ball and find open shots, leading them to go into halftime ahead 42-41.

Entering the second half, guard Connor Gamble would score nine points in the first minute and 30 seconds of the game, all of them behind the arc. Life would keep a decent lead, while Cumberlands would play catchup. At 7:28, the Patriots would suffer from a Technical Foul from Jordan Griggs; this would result in the Running Eagles having a four point lead.

Following this, the men would keep control of the game until the final two minutes, where the Patriots would start to inch back. Cumberlands would lead by only two, but following a set of free throws, the Patriots would maintain a lead large enough to close out the game.

The Men would be downed 87-81.

Gamble finished the game with 28 points. Antwan Maxwell would close out with a double-double, having 13 points and 14 rebounds. Guard, Cam Horton closed out with 18 points and six assists for the Running Eagles.
