Women's Basketball to Host Play-In with Road Loss to Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, KY —  The Women's Basketball team traveled to Georgetown to take on the Georgetown College Tigers in their final game of the season on Saturday. The Running Eagles and the Tigers would battle for ranking prior to the Mid-South Conference Tournament.

Earlier in the week, the Women traveled to Thomas More, where they would lose 68-75. The winner of this matchup would not participate in the play-in game on Monday.

The game would start out as a back and forth game between the Running Eagles and the Tigers. Georgetown would take an early lead of 13-8 at the midway mark of the first quarter. But, the Running Eagles would claw back to get a lead as the clock trickled down. The Running Eagles' Shikiya Brown would down a two-pointer, putting the Women up 19-18 at the end of the first.

In the second, the Women would keep the momentum going. The Tigers would fight to gain control of the score, but the Running Eagles would stay just two steps ahead of them. The score would stay in the mid-twenties throughout the second. The Running Eagles would lead 32-28 entering the locker room at the half.

The Women would shoot poorly from around the field, and the arc at the half. But Georgetown would commit seven turnovers in the first half to the Running Eagles' zero. This would prove favorable for Life U, as they used the Tigers' mistakes to their advantage.

Entering the third, Sydni Tears would give her efforts from the post, using her athleticism to get points on the board. The score would fluctuate between Georgetown and Life U; but, the Running Eagles would again use the Tigers' mistakes to their advantage; a technical on Georgetown's Reagan Williams and Head Coach would give the Running Eagles a nine point lead at the end of the third.

In the fourth, the Running Eagles would hold onto the lead, before the momentum would start to shift. The Tigers would start to slowly chip at the score, but Life U would be sure to keep the lead at a respectable distance. Georgetown would go on an 8-0 run at the four-minute mark, with the score going from 73-65, to 73-70 in a minute.

The Tigers would then have the opportunity to gain the lead off of free-throws. The score would be 81-77. Tierra Tullis would drain a three at the end of the game, but it would not be enough to take the win. The Running Eagles close out the season with a loss 81-80.

The Running Eagles would shoot 38 percent from the field, 25 percent from the arc and 68.4 percent from the charity stripe.

Tullis would close out the game with 23 points and five assists. Sydni Tears would close out with 22 points, and eight rebounds. Kiana Glenn would also finish in double digits, with 16 points.
