McKENZIE, Tenn. --- The Life University men's soccer team nearly doubled up the Wildcats in shots taken, but a late goal saw the Running Eagles come up short on the road at Bethel (Tenn.) Thursday night.
Life University (3-5-1, 1-3-1 MSC) lost a chippy contest to Bethel (Tenn.) (8-3-1, 3-2-0 MSC) that saw three different players receive red cards. Both team's recorded a single red card in the scoreless first half, while the first, and only, score of the game was provided by the Wildcats in the 60th minute. Life U got a couple chances to score following the 1-0 deficit, but only got a single one on frame, a header by
Danny DeLorijn, before losing the contest 1-0.
DeLorijn led all players with five shots, helping the Running Eagles to a 16-9 edge in shots taken, but Life U only had one shot on goal compared to three from the Wildcats. The offensive tempo being held by the Running Eagles was also reflected in the corner kicks, Life U leading 7-2. For the amount of cards given out in the contest, there were not many fouls, Life U earning a couple more at 9-5.
The men's soccer team stays on the road for its next Mid-South Conference contest looking to bounce back into the win column, facing Freed-Hardeman on the road Saturday, October 9th at 3 PM.
