Second Half Struggles Cost Women's Basketball Road MSC Matchup

HENDERSON, Tenn. ---- The Life University women's basketball team was outscored 43-18 in the second half Thursday night, as the Running Eagles fell to Freed-Hardeman University in Mid-South Conference action 74-47.

Life U jumped out to a 15-11 lead after the first quarter, and continued to add to the lead up by six, 27-21, with 2:38 remaining in the second quarter. The Lions finished the quarter on a 10-2 run to lead 31-29 at the break. Freed-Hardeman outscored Life U 24-9 in the third quarter and 19-9 in the fourth to earn the win.

Life U shot 13-26 from the field in the first half, but struggled hitting just 7-27 in the second half. They finished the game 20-55 at 36.4% and were just 3-19, 15.8%, from behind the arc with all made three point baskets coming in the first half. The Running Eagles were 4-9 from the free-throw line in the game and added 24 points in the paint. They also finished with 31 rebounds with 13 turnovers.

Freed-Hardeman started the game shooting 4-14 in the first quarter, but finished above 50% the rest of the way to end the game 29-62, 46.8%. The Lions were 9-25 from behind the arc at 36% and were 7-11 from the free-throw line. Freed-Hardeman was aided by 26 points in the paint with 19 second chance points and 32 bench points. The Lions only had five turnovers all game with 36 rebounds and eight steals.

Individually, Morgan Collins led the way with 17 points and three assists and was 7-18 from the floor. Olivia Delk added the double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds with a steal. 

The women's basketball team will conclude their MSC road trip on Saturday, December 18, as they travel to Bethel, Tenn. to face Bethel University at 3 PM EST.
