MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match Friday night in a 3-0 sweep over Talladega College at home.
NOTES
• Life U improved to 13-2 on the year and totaled 39 kills and 11 aces in the sweep.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Lena Pucnik led the Running Eagles with a double-double on 12 kills and 10 digs. She added a service ace.
•
Caitlyn Neal also finished in double figures for the match with 10 kills.
•
Brie Montgomery tallied 17 assists as
Kennedy Neal picked up 15.
•
Marin Black led the Running Eagles defensively with a match-high 29 kills.
Savannah Keener finished with a team-high three service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U led 10-8 early in set one but used a 5-1 run to lead 15-9 after the kill from Louis. A 7-1 run from Life U ended the set 25-13 with a block from Louis and Furness.
• Life U never trailed in the second set, as a 5-0 run in the middle of the set was finished with a solo block from Louis to lead 14-7. Another 7-1 run finished the set after Keener picked up an ace 25-12.
• Life U led 8-3 in the third set, however Talladega bounced back with a 5-1 run to cut the lead to one, 9-8. An 8-1 Talladega run gave the Tornadoes their only lead of the match 19-18. The Running Eagles bounced back with a 7-1 run as Pucnik ended the match with a kill, 25-20.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Talladega in kills 39-19. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .204 as Talladega finished with a .010.
• Life U led Talladega in all statistical categories. They led 11-2 in aces, 5-2 in blocks, 35-16 in assists and 66-47 in digs.
• Talladega committed 18 attacking errors as Life U finished with 17.
