Women's Lacrosse Earns Dominant 20-1 Victory against (RV) TN Wesleyan

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The ninth-ranked Life University women's lacrosse team put on a show during a sunny afternoon in Lupo Family Field, dominating (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan for a 20-1 victory.

NOTES
• Life U improved to 3-0 (1-0) on the year with the victory, while the Bulldogs open their season with a loss.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Maria Arvizu put together a breakthrough performance, leading or nearly leading the team in most all offensive and defensive categories. Arvizu's ridiculous stat line included five goals on only seven shots, two assists, five ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
• Tina Ricci had yet another game where she filled the stat sheet, recording four goals on nine shots, two assists, three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
• Brianna Freeman and Annaliese Froese both chipped in a pair of goals, two ground balls, and a caused turnover, while Freeman also added two assists and a draw control.
• Lacy Legaspi and Kelly Beshaw also recorded a two goals on the game, coming off efficient shooting at four and three shots attempted, respectively. Legaspi also recorded a ground ball, while Beshaw caused a turnover.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U quickly raced out to a lead and never looked back, five goals coming in the first five minutes of play as the oppressive Life U defense made it hard for Tennessee Wesleyan to even make it to the other side of the field. Five more goals over the next seven minutes of play saw the lead extend to 10-0 at 17:24 as the score pushed the game to running clock. In the final minutes of the first half, Life U broke through for five more goals as the lead swelled to 15-0.
• The teams entered the second half with the clock still running as the game continued on the same trajectory. Freeman connected on a goal early in the second half to push the game to 16-0, but the team pushed the breaks a bit as they tried to control the ball for longer stretches, not taking as many shots. Two scores off free position in the middle portion of the half saw the lead pushed further to 18-0. In the final eight minutes of play Ricci connected on the last two Running Eagle's goals, TN Wesleyan breaking through for a goal of their own finally between her shots for the final score of 20-1.
