Women's Lacrosse Upends No. 7 Georgetown College on the Road, 11-4

GEORGETOWN, Ky. ---- The No. 9 nationally ranked Life University women's lacrosse team earned the upset in conference play tonight, beating No. 7 Georgetown College for a convincing, 11-4 victory on the road.
 
NOTES
• Life U improved to 6-0 (3-0) on the year with the upset, while Georgetown College starts its season with a loss.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Tina Ricci dominated in the game on the attack, leading all players with six points off her three goals and assists. The senior also wracked up six ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control.
• Lacy Legaspi had another outstanding offensive outing with three goals and an assist to go with her five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Brianna Freeman keeps on finding the back of the net through the early stretch of the season, earning three goals and an assist tonight.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Both teams' defenses made things tough through the early running of what was a cold and wet game. Finally after 10 minutes had passed, a team broke though for a goal, Georgetown College taking a 1-0 lead.
• Life U quickly responded, posting three goals over the rest of the half, coming from Kelly Beshaw, Freeman, and Ricci to take a 3-1 lead into the break.
• Again, the Tigers recorded the first goal of the half, as the team's traded scores back and forth over the first 14 minutes of the second. With 16:56 keft in regulation, Life U held a 6-4 advantage.
• A Legaspi goal at the 13:55 mark completely shifted the momentum to Life U's side, the team scoring five unanswered goals over the remainder of the game for the 11-4 upset win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished with a huge advantage in shot take with 32 total shots as 20 were on frame. Georgetown College tallied 13 shots with 8  of those on frame.
• Georgetown College led Life U in saves 9-4.
• Life U was 19-of-25 on clears during the game as the Tigers finished 16-of-25.
• Georgetown College committed 34 turnovers in the game as Life U finished with 27.
• Life U picked up 51 ground balls compared to the 38 from the Tigers. Life U trailed Georgetown College 11-4 in draw controls during the game.
