MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team was unable to find its first Mid-South Conference win of the season Sunday afternoon in a 5-0 loss to No. 9 Martin Methodist at home.
NOTES
• Life U fell to 4-4-1 (0-4) as Martin Methodist improved to 8-0 (2-0).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Mathilde Sletner led the Running Eagles with four total shots and three of the teams four shots on goal.
• The Life U goalkeepers of
Emily Hounsell and
Julia Vila Punset totaled 10 saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Neither team was able to score a goal in the opening 25 minutes of play. A red card for Life U in the 28
th minute forced the Running Eagles to play down a player for the remainder of the game.
• Two minutes after the card, Martin Methodist scored its first goal of the game. The Running Eagles did not register a shot in the final 15 minutes, as the Redhawks led 1-0 at the break.
• Martin Methodist kept the offensive pressure to begin the second half with a goal six minutes into the action to lead 2-0. 13 minutes later the Redhawks broke through again to lead 3-0.
• Logadottir put a shot on frame in the 65
th minute, but the Martin Methodist keeper kept the ball out to preserve the 3-0 lead.
• Martin Methodist added its final goals in the 76
th and 82
nd minute to earn the 5-0 win over Life U.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Martin Methodist led Life U in total shots 26-5. The Running Eagles finished with four shots on frame to the 15 from the Redhawks.
• Martin Methodist held 15-1 lead in corner kicks over Life U, however the Running Eagles led the Redhawks in saved 10-4.
