Errors Plague No. 14 Men's Volleyball in 3-2 Loss to Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. ---- The No. 14 nationally ranked Life University men's volleyball team dropped its second consecutive Mid-South Conference matchup on the road Thursday night 3-2 to Webber International University. 
 
NOTES
• Life U falls to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in MSC play as Webber improved to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in league action.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
• Carlos Negron led the Running Eagles offensively with 21 kills and a service ace.
• Felipe Gonzalez finished just behind him with 19 kills and nine digs.
• Jonathon Lemos earned the double-double with 51 assists and 10 digs. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Life U trailed early in set one 12-5. As offensive production was limited for Life U in the first set, Webber capitalized with the 25-17 win in set one.
• Webber again led early in set two by a 10-3 margin. The Warriors maintained the lead throughout the set to earn the 25-15 win in set two.
• Life U again trailed early in set three 7-2 but used a 7-2 run to tie the set at nine with the ace from Henson. The two teams battled for control of the lead, but Life U finished the set on a 6-0 run to win 25-19.
• Webber led 7-5 early in set four, but a quick 4-1 run gave the Running Eagles a 9-8 lead. The two teams traded points, but a 5-1 run in the middle of the set gave Life U a 16-12 lead. Webber responded immediately with a 4-1 run of its own to cut the lead to one. Cabana tallied the final kill to force a fifth set as Life U won 25-20.
• Trailing 8-6 in the fifth set, Webber used a 5-1 run to lead by two, 11-9. Facing match point 14-13, Life U rallied with a pair of kills from Negron and an attack error from the Warriors to lead 16-15. A 3-1 run from Webber gave the Warriors match point 18-17 on a pair of service errors and an attack error. The match ended on an attack error from Life U as Webber earned the upset victory 20-18.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Webber in kills 59-53. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .280 as Webber finished with a .293. The Running Eagles finished with 22 errors as the Warriors tallied 17. Life U totaled 21 service errors to the 15 from Webber.
• Life U led Webber 57-57 in assists and 44-40 in digs.
• Webber edged Life U in aces 12-7 and 8-3 in blocks.
 
UP NEXT
• The men's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, March 13, when they continue MSC play and face Warner University on the road at 2 PM.
