MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The (RV) Life University women's volleyball team led Campbellsville in nearly all statistical categories, but were unable to overcome errors in a 3-1 Mid-South Conference loss at home Monday night.
NOTES
• Life U doprs to 23-7 (7-4) on the year as Campbellsville improved to 13-6 (6-4).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Lena
Pucnik led the Running Eagles offensively and tallied a double-double with 28 digs and 18 kills.
•
Mary Zimmerman finished with 11 kills as Fayloa Louis finished with 10.
•
Marin Black tallied a career-high 48 digs in the match as
Morgan Furness added four block assists, four digs and five kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Campbellsville led from the start in set one to earn the 25-19 win.
• Life U responded in the second set with a 15-12 lead halfway through after the block from Zimmerman and Louis. A late 4-0 run from Campbellsville cut the lead to one, 21-20, however Life U finished the set on a 4-0 run with Furness and Louis tallying the block to secure the 25-20 set two win.
• Campbellsville came out swinging in the third set, as the Tigers leaped out to an 11-2 lead. Life U battled from behind the entire set, eventually cutting the lead to three, 21-18, before Campbellsville finished the set ahead 25-20.
• Campbellsville led early in the fourth set as well 9-5. The Running Eagles battled adversity and were able to string together a run that was finished with back-to-back kills from Pucnik to lead 17-15. The two teams traded points, but Life U found itself ahead 20-19 late in the set. Campbellsville rattled off four in a row and a service error put the Tigers on match point. Another service error ended the match as Campbellsville earned the 25-22 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U led Campbellsville in nearly every statistical category as the Running Eagles finished with 55 kills to the 53 from the Tigers. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .146 as Campbellsville finished .173.
• Life U led Campbellsville 8-5 in blocks with both teams acquiring three service aces.
• Life U edged Campbellsville in assists 52-43, and 124-120 in digs.
