WALESKA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team competed in the Mid-South Conference Pod hosted by Reinhardt University on Friday and Saturday, as the Running Eagles finished the weekend with a 2-1 record.
The Running Eagles fell in the opener to No. 3 nationally ranked Campbellsville. Life U struggled offensively as Campbellsville won 25-23, 25-18 and 25-17.
Bouncing back in the final game of the opening day, Life U earned the 3-0 sweep over Bluefield College. The Running Eagles won 25-18, 28-26 and 25-15. The men finished with a hitting percentage of .256 with 46 kills as a team. They led 7-4 in blocks over the Rams as well as 24-22 in digs, 34-22 in assists and managed only 16 attacking errors to the 26 from Bluefield.
Individually,
Nevin Johnson led Life U with a .708 hitting percentage on 19 kills with just two errors.
Sebastian Obrador returned the the court with 18 assists and six digs as
Jonathan Lemos tallied 13 assists.
Alex Cabana added a pair of kills with four block assists.Â
In the final match of the weekend on Saturday, Life U took care of Thomas More in 3-0 fashion. The Running Eagles won 25-22, 25-13 and 25-21 as Life U led in nearly every statistical category. They led 37-27 in kills, 7-3 in aces, 35-26 in assists and 26-17 in digs. Both teams finished with three blocks as the Running Eagles finished with a hitting percentage of .333.Â
Individually,
Carlos Negron led the Running Eagles with nine kills and no errors with a service ace and three digs. Obrador added eight kills with 22 assists, five digs and a service ace. Lemos added another 10 assists as
Diego Martinez led the team with eight digs.Â
With the weekend results, Life U moves up to fourth in the MSC standings with an 8-4 overall record. The men's volleyball team will return to action on Tuesday, March 30, as they travel to Georgetown, KY to face Georgetown College at 5 PM.
