Hot Start for No. 13 Men's Volleyball Ends at Reinhardt Saturday

WALESKA, Ga. ---- The No. 13 nationally ranked Life University men's volleyball team fell in 3-0 fashion on the road Saturday afternoon to Reinhardt University in Mid-South Conference action.

The loss ends an eight game win streak that extends back to last season, and drops the Running Eagles to 4-1 in MSC play. Despite leading late in two of the three sets, the team fell 25-23, 25-17 and 26-24. Life U finished with a hitting percentage of .179 with 33 kills as Reinhardt led in every statistical category. 

Life U led 19-14 early in set one, but a 7-0 run from Reinhardt gave the Eagles a 21-19 advantage. The Running Eagles responded to take a 23-22 lead, before the Eagles took the set 25-23. Life U never led in the second set, but held a 16-13 lead in the middle of the third set. A 6-2 run from Reinhardt gave the Eagles a 19-18 lead as the two teams traded points until Life U led 23-22. Reinhardt ended the match on a 4-1 run to win 26-24. 

Individually Felipe Gonzalez led the Running Eagles with 15 kills and a service ace. Jonathan Lemos provided 29 assists, and was joined by Santiago Triana and Ryan Ollie who all finished with five digs.

The men's volleyball team currently sits in third in the MSC standings behind No. 2 Campbellsville in first with a 5-0 record and (RV) Georgetown in second with a 5-1 record. They will continue MSC play this week as they travel to face (RV) Webber International University on Thursday, March 11, at 7 PM and (RV) Warner University on Saturday, March 13, at 2 PM.
