MARIETTA, Ga. ---- Despite leading 1-0 at the half, the Life University women's soccer team was unable to find its first Mid-South Conference win of the season Sunday afternoon as Freed-Hardeman earned the 2-1 victory on Lupo Family Field.
Sarah Slingluff broke through for the Running Eagles in the 27th minute to give Life U the 1-0 lead. Despite leading the Lions in shots 14-5, Freed-Hardeman used goals in the 56th and 76th minute to earn the 2-1 road win. The Freed-Hardeman keeper finished with six saves as the Running Eagles totaled seven shots on frame. The only two shots on frame for the Lions were the pair of goals.
Alexandra Collighan led the Running Eagles with four total shots and two on frame, as
Snaedis Logadottir put a pair of shots on goal as well. Slingluff finished with two shots and the goal as
Aylin Lopez and Arecely Zamudio each picked up a shot on frame.Â
The women's soccer team currently stand at 4-6-1 overall and 0-6 in Mid-South Conference play. Three of the six losses have come to teams ranked in the top 13 in the NAIA with one coming to a team receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll. The team will regroup for a quick turnaround as they welcome No. 25 Bethel University on Tuesday, March 9, at 4 PM on Lupo Family Field.Â
