Women's Soccer Draw Even with No. 25 Bethel 1-1

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's soccer team earned a point in the Mid-South Conference standings Tuesday night as the Running Eagles finished the match with No. 25 Bethel locked at one after two overtimes.

NOTES
• Life U came from behind in the second half to find the goal. Both teams finished with seven shots on frame.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Mathilde Sletner scored the lone goal for the Running Eagles as she also led the team with eight shots and four on frame.
Leah McDaid added three shots with a pair on goal as Snaedis Logadottir added the final shot on frame for the match.
Emily Hounsell totaled six saves during the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Bethel came out firing shots in the first half, as the Wildcats totaled five in the first ten minutes of play. Bethel broke through in the 35th minute to take an early 1-0 lead, as Life U had not registered a shot.
• Securing the defensive line, the Running Eagles were unable to produce much offensively with four shots as Bethel went into the half leading 1-0.
• The opening five minutes of the second half looked like two different teams, as the Running Eagles began pressing and eventually earned a penalty as a result of the pressure. Sletner's first attempt was saved by the keeper, but she was able to put the rebound into the back of the net to tie the game at one. The two teams had chances in the remaining 35 minutes in regulation, but neither goalie allowed a goal to send the match into overtime.
• The pace of the game seemed to slow dramatically in overtime, as Bethel totaled two shots to the one from Life U in both of the two extra periods. As the final whistle sounded, Life U held on to earn the 1-1 tie over nationally ranked Bethel.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Bethel edged Life U in total shots 27-14. The Running Eagles finished with seven shots on frame to the seven from the Wildcats.
• Each team tallied six saves with neither team recording a shot on frame in the overtime periods. Bethel led Life U in corner kicks 7-3 during the match.
