Second Half Run Not Enough as Women's Lacrosse Falls 14-8 at No.2 Keiser

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. ---- The No. 7 nationally ranked Life University women's lacrosse team tried for the second half comeback on the road at top ranked, Mid-South Conference foe No.2 Keiser University today, but came up short 14-8. 
 
NOTES
• Life U drops to 8-4 (3-2), while the Seahawks improve to 9-0 (5-0).
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
Brianna Freeman was the top performer for Life U on the offensive end, leading the team with three goals off of 12 shots, eight of which were on frame
Lacy Legaspi added three points for the Running Eagles as well, two off of goal while assisting on another. Her goals coming off of four total shots which were all on goal.
Leanne Windon had another great game on the defensive side, leading all players with four caused turnovers and five collected ground balls.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Life U tied things up at 1-1 early in the game off of a Freeman goal on a free position shot, but Keiser responded by pulling off a four goal streak to create breathing room. Neither team scored much over the middle 10 minutes of the half as a Maria Arvizu goal at the 12:56 mark saw the Running Eagles pull within three goals at 6-3. The Seahawks scored five unanswered over the remainder of the half to take a commanding 11-3 lead into the break.
• Much like at the start of the game, the team's traded goals over the opening segment of the second half. With just under 19 minutes to go in the game, th Running Eagles started a run, seeming poised to mount a comeback as they connected on four-straight scores to bring the game back within reach, 12-8, with 10 minutes remaining to play. Life U could not find the back of the net again as Keiser added on two more goals for the final score of 14-8.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U finished with 29 total shots as 22 were on frame. Keiser tallied 35 shots with 23 on frame.
• The Seahawks led Life U in saves 14-9.
• The Running Eagles were 23-of-33 on clears during the game as Keiser finished 23-of-35.
• The teams were close in turnovers, Life U committing 33 to the Seahawks' 34.
• Life U picked up 32 ground balls compared to the 36 from Keiser. The teams tied with 12 draw controls each.

• The women's lacrosse team returns home for its final two regular season games, starting with a contest against No. 3 University of the Cumberlands Friday, April 9 at 5:10 PM within the friendly confines of Lupo Family Field.
