MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The women's soccer team recorded its first road win of the season tonight, besting future SSAC opponent Faulkner 3-1 while controlling the game's offensive intensity.
NOTES
• The win sees Life U improve to 3-1, while Faulkner drops to 2-4.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Justine Kuiper scored the first goal of the game and the second of the season while taking two total shots.
• Estelle Caill and Rebecca Noren also both got in on the scoring, earning the first goals of their Life U career off a single shot each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Running Eagles came out on fire to start the game, possessing the ball deep in Faulkner's territory and holding a one-sided advantage in shots, 13-1. Kuiper got Life U on the board with a rocket of a kick into the top left corner of the goal in the tenth minute of the match, while Caill scored second to put the team up 2-0 just 15 minutes into the game. Faulkner scored its first goal off a penalty kick just before the 38th minute, seeing the teams enter the break, Life U leading 2-1.
• The second half played out much the same as the first, the Running Eagles keeping all of the offensive momentum on their side as they again outshot Faulkner by a wide margin—this time 12-2. The final score of the game came off the foot of Noren before 10 minutes had passed in the period, providing the final score of 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Life U held a massive advantage in both shots taken 25-3 and shots on goal 14-2.
• With the disparity in shots taken, Faulkner gathered 11 saves to the Running Eagles' one.
• There were not many corner kicks taken in the game, but Faulkner led the category 2-1.
• Both teams did not commit many fouls, Life U being tabbed with a couple more at nine to Faulkner's 6, while both teams had a single yellow card.
