Men's Soccer Goes Distance at Cumberland Tying 3-3 2OT

LEBANON, Tenn. ---- The Life University men's soccer team went the distance on the road at Cumberland University tonight in a back-and-forth game, recording the team's first tie since the 2019 season with a 3-3 2OT final in Mid-South Conference play.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Danny DeLorijn led the charge for the Running Eagles, giving the team scores in the first and second half while also leading the team with six shots, three of which were on frame.
Bart Kooistra recorded the other Life U goal to go with an assist on DeLorijn's first score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Life U took an early lead, DeLorijn getting a kick by the Phoenix goalkeeper in the 13th minute on passes from Kooistra and Stan Vandierendonck, while the team kept offensive pressure on the Cumberland backline. In the 28th minute, the game's momentum swung towards the Phoenix, Cumberland recording a goal which was backed up by another to take a 2-1 lead into the break.
• Cumberland took five shots unanswered by the Running Eagles to start the second half, but just over 13 minutes into the half Life U corner kicks set up a Kooistra goal assisted by Wilfried Tchoupa Kamden and Yannick Eerden to tie the game 2-2. With just 10 minutes to go in regulation, Cumberland retook the lead, but the Running Eagles quickly answered just two minutes later to tie the game back at 3-3. In the final minutes of regulation, both team's got good looks at goals to take the lead, but the second half ended with the teams still tied 3-3.
