WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the University of the Cumberlands Thursday night as the Patriots overpowered the Running Eagles 89-49.
Despite 18 first quarter points from Life U (5-12, 1-8), Cumberlands (12-6,6-4) produced 54 first half points. The Running Eagles were plagued by 27 turnovers and relinquished 44 points in the paint. The closest quarter for Life U came after the break in the third, where they were only outscored by four, 16-12.
Cumberlands finished the game 36-68 (52.9%) from the floor and 10-17 (58.8%) from beyond the arc. The Patriots were 7-13 (53.8%) from the free-throw line and totaled 25 poitns off turnovers. They added 32 bench points and outrebounded the Running Eagles 40-22.
Life U finished 19-59 (32.2%) from the floor and 3-19 (15.8%) from three. The Running Eagles were 8-11 (72.7%) from the free-throw line and totaled 30 points in the paint. They added 14 points off 22 Patriot turnovers and totaled 15 steals.Â
Olivia Delk led the Running Eagles individually with 13 points, five blocks, four rebounds and two steals.
Lenise Santiago tallied nine points with a steal as
Rachel Wilson finished with eight points and three steals.
Anteria Evans added a team-high five steals with seven points and four assists.
The women's basketball team will continue Mid-South Conference action on Saturday, January 22, when they travel to Pikeville, Ky. to face the University of Pikeville at 2 PM.
