PIKEVILLE, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell on the road Saturday afternoon in Mid-South Conference action to the University of Pikeville 76-50.
Pikeville (10-8, 4-7) outscored Life U in all but the second quarter where both teams finished with 12. The Bears outscored the Running Eagles (5-13,1-9) 22-9 in the first quarter, 18-13 in the third and 24-16 in the fourth to earn the MSC win.Â
Pikeville finished with just eight turnovers in the game as the Bears finished 27-60 (45%) from the floor and 10-22 (45.5%) from beyond the arc. They missed just one free-throw in the game with a 12-13 (92.3%) showing. Pikeville won the battle on the boards with a 38-25Â advantage in rebounds. The Bears added 22 points in the paint with 35 bench points and added 20 assists with seven steals.
Life U finished 18-58 (31%) from the floor and 6-21 (28.6%) from beyond the arc. The Running Eagles were 8-10 (80%) from the charity stripe with 24 points in the paint and 17 bench points. Life U had just 12 turnovers with four steals and eight assists.
Tanit Calsapeu and
Eva Caroline Singleton led the Running Eagles with 11 points each. Calsapeu added four rebounds with a pair of assists as Singleton tallied a team-high six rebounds with a steal.
Lenise Santiago added 10 points with a rebound as
Olivia Delk added six points with a team-high four assists.
The women's basketball team will return to action on Monday, January 24, when they host Cumberland University inside the Eagles' Nest in Mid-South Conference action at 6 PM.
