Women's Basketball Fall Late to Georgetown in Road MSC Matchup

GEORGETOWN, Ky. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell on the road to Georgetown College Monday night in Mid-South Conference action 59-49.

Despite leading the entire game heading into the fourth quarter, Life U (6-16, 2-12) fell to Georgetown (16-7, 9-6) late in the game. The Running Eagles trailed 14-11 after the first quarter, but outscored the Tigers 21-11 to lead 32-25 at the half. Georgetown outscored the Running Eagles 14-11 in the third, however Life U clung to a 43-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Tigers outscored the Running Eagles 20-6 in the final ten minutes to earn the 59-49 victory.

Georgetown finished the game 20-53 (37.7%) from the floor and 8-20 (40%) from three for the game. The Tigers were 11-15 (73.3%) from the free-throw line with 18 points in the paint and 13 points off turnovers. Georgetown finished with 27 rebounds and 14 assists with just eight turnovers and seven steals.

Life U shot 20-48 (41.75) from the floor and 6-15 (40%) from beyond the arc. The Running Eagles were just 3-6 (50%) from the free-throw line and totaled 24 points in the paint. They added 36 rebounds with 11 assists, however 19 turnovers plagued the Running Eagles down the stretch.

Eva Caroline Singleton finished with a team-high 17 points on eight rebounds with three assists. Amara Edeh also finished in double figures with 10 points and four rebounds with a pair of blocks. Rachel Wilson added nine points with just one rebound as Sienna Bailey added six points with seven rebounds and a pair of assists. 

The women's basketball team will return to action on Thursday, February 3, when they host Bethel University inside the Eagles' Nest for a Mid-South Conference matchup at 6 PM.
