MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team dropped its fourth consecutive Mid-South Conference game Thursday night in a 67-47 loss to Bethel University at home.
Bethel (13-10, 7-8) led Life U (6-17, 2-13) 19-10 after the first quarter and 39-27 at the half. The Wildcats outscored the Running Eagles 14-3 in the third quarter, however Life U bounced back in the fourth with the 17-14 advantage. The three point advantage in the fourth wasn't enough as the Wildcats earned the 67-47 win.
Bethel finished 25-62 (40.3%) from the floor and 9-30 (30%) from three. The Wildcats were 8-10 (80%) from the free-throw line and scored 28 points in the paint with 15 points off of 16 turnovers from Life U. They controlled the boards with 41 rebounds and 18 assists with eight steals and four blocks with just eight turnovers as a team.
Life U shot 14-43 (32.26%) from the floor and 6-18 (33.3%) from behind the arc. The Running Eagles were 13-25 (52%) from the charity stripe and totaled 16 points in the paint. They added 33 rebounds with seven assists and three steals with a block.
Tanit Calsapeu led the Running Eagles with 15 points points and an assist.
Lenise Santiago added 13 points with three rebounds as
Rachel Wilson finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and an assist.
Sienna Bailey added four points with three assists as
Eva Caroline Singleton totaled four points with four rebounds and a team-high two steals.
The women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, February 5, when they host Freed-Hardeman inside the Eagles' Nest at 2 PM.
