Running Eagles Claim 3-0 Win over Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — The Life University women's volleyball team found its fourth straight win against Southern States Athletic Conference opponents, as the Running Eagles recorded another emphatic 3-0 victory over Brewton-Parker College on the road Saturday afternoon.

Life U (10-7, 7-5 SSAC) earned the victory over host Brewton-Parker (6-3, 0-1 SSAC) with a .362 attack percentage with 49 total kills. The Baron's had a harder time with a .047 attack percentage to go with 17 kills. The Running Eagles were punctual with 46 assists on the 49 kills.

It took a little while for Life U to pull away in the first set, actually trailing 16-15 midway through. The Running Eagles then ripped three consecutive points, but again the Barons snuck back, 19-18. The Running Eagles then capitalized on a service error and two attack errors, while Fayola Louis and Chloe Teter each attacked for a kill, 24-18. A final Macey Sipmann emphatic kill locked in the set one win.

The second set saw Life U quickly jump out to a 7-4 lead as back-to-back Madison Lee kills were followed by a 3-1 run by Life. A Morgan Furness kill extended the lead to 13-7 before another run of BPC errors and kills saw Life U claim a 20-10 lead. A Madison Lee set and a Fayola Louis kill ended the set with Life on top 25-15.

For the second consecutive day, it was again the third set that played out as the most one-sided, as Life University really pulled away from the Barons 25-13. After initially losing the opening point, a 5-0 run propelled the Running Eagles back ahead 5-1. A combination of BPC errors and Life U kills set the Running Eagles ahead for good as the game ended on a kill from Macey Sipmann followed by a service ace from Jade Watson.

The Running Eagles return home for their next contest, facing conference foe RV Loyola University Friday, Oct. 21st at 6 PM in the Upper Gym.
