Running Eagles Fall in Tough Home Loss

MARIETTA, Ga. — The Life University women's volleyball team fell to Loyola University (NOLA) in a tough home contest falling in straight sets to the Wolfpack 3-0. The Running Eagles kept it close midway through each of the final two sets, but halfway through the Wolfpack pulled away in each of the sets to get the win.

Life University had their biggest defeat in the second set with a 25-17 loss. The Running Eagles did battle in each set, 25-18, 25-17, and 25-20 but didn't have enough fuel to earn a set win.

The Running Eagles saw an early lead in the second set, jumping ahead 4-1. The Wolfpack battled back to take the lead 8-7, and then a fight from Life U. saw the Running Eagles regain a 9-8 lead after a kill by Lena Pucnik, After that, a dominant second set performance from Loyola led the Wolfpack on a six point run before the opposing team closed the set on an additional four point run to end the set 25-17.

The Running Eagles trailed in each set, but in what ultimately led to the final set, the ladies showed grit towards the end with an 18-18 battle down the stretch.

In the final set, Life U. led 17-16 as the two teams were going point-for-point midway through. The Wolfpack were able to answer and retake the lead,18-17, and then a sequence of three consecutive Loyola points moved the set to 21-18. A Macey Sipmann kill pulled Life U. closer,  but the RV Wolfpack would ran away in the end with points only split by a Loyola service error 25-20.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
