Dominant Performance Leads to 3-0 Victory for Women's Volleyball Over Talladega

MARIETTA, Ga. --- The Life University women's volleyball team put together an incredibly efficient performance, crushing Talladega College at home in Southern States Athletic Conference play 3-0 Saturday afternoon in the Life U Upper Gym.

Life U (8-7, 5-5 SSAC) did a great job with their efficiency on the attack holding a .341 attacking percentage, while keeping Talladega (8-11, 2-8 SSAC) off schedule, holding them to a 0.77 attack percentage. The Running Eagles held large leads in both kills and aces, leading the statistics 38-26 and 15-1, respectively. Life U also held decent leads in assists, 37-23, and blocks, 8-0.

The game opened with the teams trading scores back-and-forth until midway through the set. After being tied 10-10, the Running Eagles ran off a 10-0 run, Fayola Louis posting a pair of kills, Kennedy Neal two aces, and the team two combo blocks to blow the set open, 20-10. The set came to an end after a Louis serve dropped in for an ace, ending the set 25-16.

The Tornadoes kept things much closer in the second set, the team's trading the lead on short runs. Down 17-15 late in the set, Life U put together a 3-0 run to retake the lead off a Chloe Teter ace, 18-17. As the set continued to draw later, Talladega had the initiative on their side until the Running Eagles ended the set on a 4-0 run after being down 22-21. An Amanda Ray service ace gave her team the lead, while back-to-back attack errors by the Tornadoes ended the set 25-22.

The third and final set went completely in favor of the Running Eagles, an opening 5-0 run giving the team a 6-1 edge after Morgan Furness and Louis combined on a block. After the Tornadoes halved Life U's lead, an 8-0 stretch that saw a pair of Louis aces and kill put the game out of reach at 16-4. Another long stretch by the Running Eagles ended in three-straight aces for Teter to push the lead to 21-5. The game ended on a 4-0 run by Life U, Lena Pucnik ending the game with her game-high 10th kill to end the set 25-7 and game 3-0.

The Running Eagles hit the road for their next two games, playing at Middle Georgia State on October 14th at 6 PM.
