MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell to No. 5 nationally ranked Campbellsville University 76-41 Thursday night inside the Eagles' Nest in Mid-South Conference play.
Campbellsville (22-3, 14-3) controlled the game from the start and added to their lead late in the game. Life U (6-20, 2-16) managed to finish in double figures in both the second and third quarters, as Campbellsville tallied double digits in all four. The Tigers led 13-7 after the first quarter, and used a game-high 25 points in the second quarter to lead 38-21 at the half. A 21-11 advantage in the third quarter extended the Campbellsville lead, as the Tigers finished the game ahead 17-9 in the final ten minutes for the final score of 76-41.
Campbellsville finished 28-64 (43.8%) from the floor and 11-28 (39.3%) from beyond the arc. The Tigers were 9-12 (75%) from the free-throw line and added 39 rebounds with 12 steals. They tallied 22 assists with just seven turnovers in the game. Campbellsville added 34 points in the paint with 23 points off turnovers and 43 bench points in the game.
Life U finished 16-51 (31.4%) from the field and 5-20 (25%) from three. The Running Eagles were 4-7 (57.1%) from the free-throw line and totaled 33 rebounds with six steals. They added a pair of blocks and nine assists, but totaled 18 turnovers in the game. Life U added 22 points in the paint with seven second chance points and eight bench points.
Lenise Santiago was the only Running Eagles to finish in double figures on the night with 11 points and one assist with two steals.
Tanit Calsapeu also picked up two steals with eight points, two rebounds and an assist.
Eva Caroline Singleton battled with seven points and six rebounds with an assist and a steal.
Rachel Wilson totaled a game-high 10 rebounds with an assist, a block and four points.
The women's basketball team will return to action on Saturday, February 12, when they host (RV) Georgetown College inside the Eagles' Nest at 2 PM.Â
