Men's Volleyball Secure Fifth Straight Win at Home over Reinhardt 3-2

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team held on Wednesday night to win its fifth consecutive match against Mid-South Conference foe Reinhardt University 3-2.

Life U (10-2, 7-2) won the first two sets of the match 25-18 and 25-23. Reinhardt tied the match to force a fifth set winning the third 25-18 and 25-19 in the fourth. The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the fifth set, however the Running Eagles went on a 9-2 run that was finished with a kill from Ollie to take a commanding 9-4 lead in the set. Life U led 11-5 before a timeout rebalanced Reinhardt late in the set. The Eagles answered with a 6-2 run to cut the lead to two, 13-11. A block from Cornier and Cabana gave the Running Eagles match point, before a kill from Henson sealed the win 15-12.

Reinhardt overcame the sluggish start to finish with 64 kills and a .273 hitting percentage and 25 attack errors. The Eagles led in aces with eight, blocks with 11 and assists with 58. They finished the match with 48 digs and hit above .300 as a team the final three sets.

Life U totaled 57 kills in the match with a .279 hitting percentage on just 21 attack errors. The Running Eagles picked up four service aces, five total blocks, 55 assists and 49 digs in the match. Life U finished in double digit kill totals as a team in every set except the fifth. 

Individually, Ryan Ollie led the way for the Running Eagles on a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. He finished the match with a .355 hitting percentage and committed just two attacking errors. Josh Henson totaled a team-high 16 kills with a .407 hitting percentage. He added six digs with a block assist and a solo block. Alex Cabana also finished in double figures with 13 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. Cabana picked up a team-high three service aces with a pair of block assists. Javier Cornier totaled 51 assists in the match with three block assists and four digs, as Alexis Prado totaled a team-high 17 digs in the match.

The men's volleyball team will return to action on Sunday, February 27, when they travel to Milligan College, Tenn. to compete in a tri-match with Cumberland and Milligan. The Running Eagles will face Cumberland at 3 PM and hosts Milligan at 5 PM.
