Women's Basketball Battle in 65-55 Loss to (RV) Freed-Hardeman

MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University women's basketball team fell at home 65-55 Saturday afternoon to (RV) Freed-Hardeman in Mid-South Conference action, however the Running Eagles had their best shooting and three-point percentages of the year. 

Freed-Hardeman (16-8, 8-8) used the first and third quarters to seal the match as the Lions outscored the Running Eagles 21-11 in the first quarter and 21-10 in the third. Life U (6-18, 2-14) outscored Freed-Hardeman 19-13 in the second to trail by just three, 33-30, at the half. The Running Eagles late run came up short in the fourth quarter, however they did outscore the Lions 15-10 in the final ten minutes.

Freed-Hardeman finished 27-53 (50.9%) from the floor and 9-23 (39.1%) from beyond the arc. The Lions were just 2-5 (40%) from the free-throw line, but scored 26 points in the paint and added 17 bench points. They totaled 30 rebounds with eight steals and 17 assists with only 13 turnovers. 

Life U finished 21-49 (42.9%) from the floor and a season-best 5-11 (45.5%) from three. The Running Eagles were just 8-18 (44.4%) from the charity stripe, but totaled 32 points in the paint and 17 points off turnovers. They added 32 rebounds with 17 assists and seven steals on 14 turnovers. 

Eva Caroline Singleton and Rachel Wilson led the Running Eagles with 12 points each. Singleton picked up a team-high seven rebounds with four assists and was 50% from the floor. Wilson added five rebounds with an assist and was also 50% from the floor. Tanit Calsapeu was the final Running Eagle to finish in double figures with 10 points and tallied seven assists with five rebounds and a steal.

The women's basketball team will return to action on Monday, February 7, when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to face the University of Tennessee Southern at 7 PM in Mid-South Conference play.
