MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The (RV) Life University men's volleyball team fell in the 2022 home opener to (RV) Webber International University Friday night 3-1 in a match that was also the Mid-South Conference opener for both teams.
Despite leading Webber (4-3, 1-0) in multiple statistical categories, Life U (1-1, 0-1) was unable to overcome struggles from behind the service line in the loss. Life U won the first set 25-18, but struggled to find a rhythm in the second and third set falling 25-22 and 25-20. The Running Eagles led in the fourth set and were on set point 24-23, however the Warriors finished the match on a 4-1 run to win 27-25.
Webber finished with 46 kills and a hitting percentage of .277. The Warriors led the Running Eagles 10-7 in service aces and 10-4 in blocks during the match. The team finished with 15 attacking errors and 13 service errors.
Life U ended the match with 56 kills and a .331 hitting percentage. The Running Eagles also edged out the Warriors in assists, 55-41, and digs, 44-35. The team totaled 17 attacking errors and 21 service errors.
Individually,
Sebastian Obrador led the Running Eagles on a double-double with a match-high 27 kills and 10 digs. He finished with a .458 hitting percentage and added a pair of service aces.
Josh Henson also finished in double figures with 10 kills and seven digs on a .389 hitting percentage.
Jonathan Lemos led the way with 51 assists during the match and added five digs.
Diego Perez added eight kills on a .429 hitting percentage with a pair of service aces, two solo blocks and a block assist.
The men's volleyball team will return to action on Saturday, February 5, when they continue Mid-South Conference action and host Warner University in the Upper Gym on campus at 11 AM.
