MARIETTA, Ga. ---- The Life University men's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Carolina University Tuesday night inside the Eagles' Nest to improve to 3-1 on the year.
Life U never trailed in any of the sets as the Running Eagles rolled the three sets 25-11, 25-15 and 25-15. 16 Running Eagles recorded a statistic during the match as Life U earned its second consecutive home victory.
Carolina University finished the match with 24 kills and a .068 hitting percentage due to 19 attack errors. The Bruins added three service aces with one block and 21 assists. They totaled 19 digs with 10 service errors in the match.
Life U led in every statistical category and finished with 34 kills with a season-high .492 hitting percentage on just five attack errors in 59 attempts. The Running Eagles added nine service aces, six total blocks, 31 assists and 27 digs. They were limited to just eight service errors in the match and totaled 11 block assists.
Individually,
Felipe Gonzalez led the way for the Running Eagles with seven kills in eight attempts for a .875 hitting percentage. He added three digs.
Jan Domenech tallied six kills with a .667 hitting percentage with a block assist and a dig, as
Jose Llaneza picked up five kills with four block assists and a dig.
Josh Henson,
Javier De Leon and
Gavin Wright each added four digs as
Alex Cabana and
Diego Perez totaled two block assists each.
Nikolas Carrascal picked up a team-high three service aces with 16 assists and a dig.Â
The men's volleyball team will return to action on Friday, February 11, when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to compete in the Cumberland MSC Pod for two days. The Running Eagles will face Thomas More University at 2 PM EST and the University of Rio Grande at 8 PM.
