Men's Basketball Falls to Stillman

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Life University men's basketball team fell to the Tigers from Stillman College 102-60, Thursday evening.

In a game that quickly fell out of control for the Running Eagles (12-4, 5-4 SSAC), Devin Story and Joshua Ward turned in double-digit performances, each scoring 12 points.

In the first half, the Running Eagles fell behind 34-19 by the 10 minute mark, after that, the Tigers went on a decimating 34-9 run to go to halftime with an insurmountable 40-point 68-28 halftime lead.

The Running Eagles struggled from the field in all aspects of the contest Thursday night, getting out-rebounded 41-20, shooting 38% from the field, including 31% from behind the arc and 68% from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, Stillman saw four players reach double figures as the Tigers put on an offensive clinic, shooting 60.0 % from the field, 50% from downtown and an impressive 84.6% from the stripe.

On a night that turned out to just not be the Running Eagles night, Life U. never led as the Tigers dominated bench points, points off turnovers, second-chance points, and bench points. The Running Eagles were plagued in the first half by turnovers, committing 12 of their 15 turnovers in the opening frame, resulting in the offensive explosion from Stillman.

The second half of play saw Life U. begin to figure out its first-half woes, getting outscored by only two points, 34-32.

In the end, the Running Eagles were overwhelmed by a Stillman Tigers team that was firing on all cylinders Thursday night.

Up next, the Running Eagles return to the Eagles' Nest to host SSAC opponent Brewton-Parker College. Tipoff for the home contest is set for 2 pm.
